Initially focused on the technology itself, this work gradually showed that the most relevant model for meeting local needs is a collective one, built around use cases and the services delivered.<\/p>
This is now guiding the development of automated mobility in local communities. Against a backdrop of ecological transition, changing mobility needs and technological transformation, CIVA has chosen an approach that is collective, evidence-based and open.<\/p>
Our approach is based on a simple conviction: automation must be more than a technological advance. It must respond to the real needs of residents and local communities. It must help deliver mobility that is more accessible, safer and better aligned with social and environmental priorities.<\/p>
These five years have been shaped by continuous work: mapping controversies, listening to elected representatives, studying international trials, developing an operating model, analysing use cases and preparing the conditions for scaling.<\/h2>
This effort was only possible thanks to the commitment of all the members of the CIVA community: companies, researchers, operators, local authorities and associations. This publication reflects that collective momentum.<\/p>
It traces the steps that have transformed our understanding of automated mobility, moving it beyond a purely technological framework and grounding it in use cases, the organisation of local communities and public policy.<\/p>
The future of automated mobility will depend on our collective ability to combine innovation, social value and local roots. These five years show that this path is possible—and that it is now under way.<\/p>
Looking ahead, we hope a French model for automated mobility can emerge: a robust, clearly defined, user-centred model capable of delivering a service that is both desirable and accessible. An innovation that does not seek to impress, but to be adopted; that is defined not only by its technical capabilities, but by what it makes possible in everyday travel.<\/p>
