Hello and welcome to the fourth and final episode of our special series on the road. These Mobility Stories episodes were recorded live in Cerisy, Normandy, where the conference “Understanding the Road: Between Imaginaries, Meaning and Innovation” is taking place.

This is an unmissable gathering for entrepreneurs, researchers, scientists and experts on the road—with a capital R.

Today, we are exploring a fascinating topic: the road of the future. Clearly, the road we know today will not be the road of tomorrow. To address environmental and congestion challenges and adapt to new forms of mobility, the road of the future will need to be more sustainable, smarter and safer.

It will no doubt be more closely connected to vehicles and infrastructure. More energy-efficient, and more sustainable by design. It could even generate its own energy.

So how will it become much more than simply a space for getting from one place to another? What breakthrough innovations lie ahead? What will it look like in 20, 30 or 50 years?

Let's explore these questions with our guests:

  • Pierre Coppey, CEO of VINCI Autoroutes.

  • Bernard Jacob, Professor at Gustave Eiffel University.

  • Julien Vick, Director General of the Syndicat des Equipements de la Route.
