In Europe, greenhouse gas emissions are falling across every sector except transport. It is time to act.
Movin’On is putting forward six concrete proposals and inviting debate and dialogue to intensify collective action at its International Sustainable Mobility Summit, taking place on 7 November in Brussels.
In an open letter entitled “A Call for Collective Action to Successfully Decarbonize Transport in Europe”, the international Movin’On ecosystem sought to highlight the need for coordinated collective action by all European stakeholders to achieve the target adopted by the European Parliament in the 2021 European Climate Law: reducing net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030.
Nearly 30 companies joined the call to accelerate the decarbonization of transport in Europe.
As the only sector in Europe whose greenhouse gas emissions have not declined in recent years, land transport is a major challenge for sustainable mobility. This sector is critical because it helps reduce inequality and improve access to employment, healthcare, education, culture and leisure.
Recognizing how difficult it is to deploy collective, concrete and economically viable solutions, the Movin’On community has mobilized to raise stakeholders’ awareness of the need for a collective approach.
Working together, we can take the decisive step towards a decarbonized future. Europe has a historic opportunity to position itself as the global leader in sustainable mobility.

To help make this transition to more sustainable, competitive and inclusive mobility a success, Movin’On has developed six proposals. These solutions stem from experiments led by committed stakeholders across the ecosystem:
Accelerate the energy transition and infrastructure development
Create the regulatory space for a medium-sized electric vehicle
Encourage the deployment of automated shuttles in rural and peri-urban areas
Accelerate intermodality and scale up European green corridors
Build a Europe of skills and make it a matter of sovereignty
Harmonize the European regulatory framework to facilitate the cross-border recycling of waste
On 7 November 2024 in Brussels, the Movin’On Summit will provide an opportunity to discuss these proposals with all stakeholders involved in decarbonized mobility and identify collective levers for action to implement them as soon as possible.
Guided by innovation and cooperation, this summit aims to take participants beyond the immediacy of the present and into the reality we could all share in 2035, thanks to the actions and decisions taken today. We sincerely hope this event will act as a catalyst for this essential transformation.
