Develop a Talent Solutions Playbook
A cross-industry overview of the solutions adopted to align mobility talent forecasts with operational, sustainable long-term solutions.
Bring together innovation and HR leaders from the mobility sector to co-create and test operational solutions that support the workforce transition in this field. The aim is to bridge the gap between forecasts of critical skills and proven solutions that HR teams can implement.
Key potential solutions to improve the situation include: a European Mobility Academy, pan-European skills certificates, joint training programmes, an employer attractiveness campaign, training fairs, training exchanges, skills exchanges, and awareness-raising around the sustainable mobility of the future.
Maintain a stable platform to build momentum, gather feedback and keep innovation at the forefront.
Europe’s labour market is under pressure from overlapping structural challenges: the rapid technological transition required by recent European standards and regulations, combined with a succession of global crises. Some industries, such as automotive, are experiencing redundancies, while others—including maintenance, rail and manufacturing—face a shortage of skilled workers. There is also a shortage of experts in batteries, fuel cells, electronics, data, software and AI.
The success of this transformation will depend heavily on Europe’s ability to develop a shared vision of the skills challenges ahead: having the right skills, at the right time, in the right place and in sufficient numbers. Engaging employees by turning these challenges into opportunities to create new jobs through new technologies or business models, such as circularity, should help accelerate change. Similarly, helping companies train their employees in-house for the jobs of the future while enabling them to continue producing day to day, and creating pathways for skills to move between sectors, will help strengthen Europe’s workforce.
