Plus de 12 millions de tonnes de butadi\u00e8ne sont consomm\u00e9es \u00e0 travers le monde chaque ann\u00e9e, toutes industries confondues, dont environ 40% dans la production des \u00e9lastom\u00e8res destin\u00e9s au march\u00e9 des pneumatiques. Les 60 % compl\u00e9mentaires sont essentiellement utilis\u00e9s dans la production de vernis, r\u00e9sines, plastiques type ABS, nylon pour des applications dans l&#8217;automobile, le textile, ou encore la construction. Ces applications sont autant de d\u00e9bouch\u00e9s compl\u00e9mentaires potentiels pour le butadi\u00e8ne biosourc\u00e9. \u2028<\/p><p>C\u2019est une mati\u00e8re premi\u00e8re cl\u00e9 pour la production de caoutchoucs synth\u00e9tiques parce qu\u2019elle offre une grande r\u00e9sistance \u00e0 l\u2019abrasion et au vieillissement. Afin de changer le processus de fabrication en vue de supprimer le p\u00e9trole, Michelin utilise des d\u00e9chets agricoles (comme le ma\u00efs, les betteraves) ou issus de biomasse de bois. Autrement dit, le butadi\u00e8ne bio-sourc\u00e9 pourrait constituer \u00ab\u00a0un interm\u00e9diaire chimique majeur\u00a0\u00bb dans la fabrication des\u00a0pneumatiques sans p\u00e9trole. Et dans ce secteur en pleine mutation, Michelin avec son projet BioButterfly, se positionne naturellement comme leader de cette \u00ab\u00a0r\u00e9volution verte\u00a0\u00bb. En prouvant sa viabilit\u00e9 technologique et \u00e9conomique avec une capacit\u00e9 de production comprise entre 20 et 30 tonnes\/an, l\u2019\u00e9quipement devrait permettre une transposition industrielle rapide.<\/p><p>Ce projet ambitieux, initi\u00e9 d\u00e8s 2013, r\u00e9unit trois partenaires d\u2019envergure internationale, impatients de contribuer au d\u00e9veloppement d\u2019une cha\u00eene de production de butadi\u00e8ne renouvelable\u00a0: Michelin, IFP Energies Nouvelles et Axans, groupe qui propose des\u00a0solutions pour la conversion du p\u00e9trole et de la biomasse en carburants plus propres. L\u2019Ademe (Agence fran\u00e7aise de l\u2019environnement et de la ma\u00eetrise de l\u2019\u00e9nergie), la r\u00e9gion Nouvelle Aquitaine et la communaut\u00e9 urbaine de\u00a0Bordeaux y ont contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 hauteur de 14,7 millions d\u2019euros. Le projet repr\u00e9sente un investissement global de plus de 80 millions d\u2019euros.<\/p><p>D\u00e9sormais, Michelin s\u2019engage avec ses partenaires afin de construire de nouveaux \u00e9cosyst\u00e8mes vertueux et de mettre en synergie les diff\u00e9rents acteurs de la chaine de valeur pour op\u00e9rer, financer et valoriser cette production de butadi\u00e8ne renouvelable.
